Day 3 and 4 (2010)

Day 3: Tuesday

Today I went to the Exploratorium. It’s museum where kids can play with stuff. I liked the water tornado. It was cool. On the bottom floor I like the smelly exhibit. Me and Mom and Geoff played this game where you have to tell where the other person is lying. I said, “I have no aces.” Four times. One time you are lying. The other person has to guess which time. I had a cookie there in the cafeteria.

For lunch I was at this pretty dome called the Palace of Fine Arts. I ate my sandwich and then I climbed a tree. I climbed down because I saw a spider. And then I climbed another tree. Me and my sister climbed that one.

Then I went inside again. Then I went upstairs. On the top floor, I made a picture. It was cool because it has lots of lines over and over again and in different colors. It was made by a drawing machine – a big wooden thing. I liked it. I brang it home. And then I saw someone take apart a REAL cow’s eyeball. We got to see him open up the eye. There was gel inside that we saw. The color inside of the gel was clear. The other colors were black and one was shiny blue. The pupil is the back of your eye. And then I saw a human brain. A real one, too.

And then I went home to the Mission Dolores. I made desserts and colorful eggs. I had a fun time with Uncle Geoff. One was a world one that I made. Tabby’s had spots. It was very cool. We made movies of Tabby’s robotic toy named Ickatod. Then we went to bed in our tent. The end.

Day 4: Wednesday

Today I had breakfast at Katz Bagels. They were good. I had mine with butter, but I ordered with cinnamon butter. I had orange juice for a drink.

Then I went to a museum. It was called the California Academy of Sciences. It had all sorts of things. The first thing that I saw when I got in was a T-Rex. The T-Rex skeleton was huge.

First we went in the rain forest exhibit. One butterfly almost flew on me. And I saw two birds. They were macaws. I have a macaw feather at home, and so does my sister. I saw some ants carrying lots of leaves. I went upstairs to the top floor and there were hundreds of butterflies. They were all different colors. And they were all different sizes.

Then I went downstairs to the aquarium. I saw lots of fish. They were pretty. I got to see jellyfish. They were bright pink and glowed in the dark. They fed the fish there. I saw some snakes and bugs. I saw hundreds of plants. I saw a star thing and the roof was a globe. Not a globe that you think it would be. It went all the way around. It was not really a globe. It was kind of like an oval.

Then I had lunch. For lunch I had quesadillas and French fries and mango pudding and Clementine soda.

Then we went to the penguins. I got to see them jump in. It was pretty fun. Then I saw some fake animals. I also saw some gazelles which my sister’s name means. And then I went on the roof. The roof was grass. It was weird. Then I got a magic trick at the gift store.

And that’s the end!

Lauren in San Francisco 2010 - Day 1

It took a long while to get there. It was fun. Me and Tabby were on the plane and we had pretzels and we made them look like vampire teeth. It was funny. We had a stop at Kansas, but then we went to San Francisco.

Then we got picked up by Uncle Dave. He took us to the apartment. They have a new cat. And then we went to the park and had an ice cream. I got pink. And my sister got vanilla. I played a lot. But my sister just chased the pigeons.

Then we went to Denise’s and had dinner.

When I slept I slept in a tent in Uncle Geoff’s living room. It was fun doing that. Mom read us Little House in the Big Woods for us to go to sleep.

Today I went to the beach. I found lots of things. I’m going to show you them. Me and my sister played with dogs. And we touched crabs and starfish. I saw the Golden Gate Bridge when I was at the beach.

Next I went to Lombard Street. Lombard Street went straight down. It had lots of curves. Me and my mom and dad and sister went up and down the stairs.

Then we went to Geoff’s shop. He sells cheese, cookies and candies and sodas. I bought a cookie.

Then I went on a cable car. It went up really high. It was fun on the cable car. It sounded like a bunch of bees. Then I went to the Cable Car Museum. There was two big rooms. On the bottom one it showed how cable cars work underground. The other room had these big wheels and a gift shop. I spent most of my time in the gift shop.

Mom put a scarf in my hair.
